Unions

The University of Alaska has two unions for regular faculty.  The University of Alaska Federation of Teachers represents former community college teachers and those teaching exclusively lower-division courses.

United Academics AAUP/AFT represents faculty teaching upper-division courses, researchers and other academically related positions.

There is a third union for part-time instructors.  They are represented by Adjuncts (United Academics AAUP/AFT).

University facilities employees are represented by the Alaska Higher Education Crafts and Trades Local 6070.

Negotiations with the employee unions and administration of the collective bargaining agreements are handled by the Statewide Office of Labor and Employee Relations.
